Inception

What can I say about this film which you haven't already heard. Probably nothing but allow me to reiterate that this film is fantastic. The story, the acting, the effects are all incredible. It is a must see. There are a few flaws but I will not talk about them as they contain some minor spoilers for the film. These flaws do not detract though from the magnificence of this film.

Go see it in theatres it is worth it.

The Last Airbender

I had never seen the show before I saw this film and I thought it was enjoyable despite it's incredibly low ratings. However I have since seen the source material and I understand why fans were so disappointed. The film does not live up to the show at all. Most of the acting was sub-par with two major exceptions Dev Patel as Prince Zuko who managed to capture this confused and conflicted character very well and Aasf Mandvi who did a great job portraying Zhao as the main antagonist. While this film was not amazing I do hope it does well enough so that Paramount will at least give the first of two planned squeals a shot as I feel it is a series with great potential.

If your a fan of the show you may want to avoid this film otherwise it is worth a watch but not worth a trip to the theatre. Unless you just feel like you must see it now wait for the a home release.

Karate Kid

A nice homage to the 1984 original. It manages to capture the overall feel of the original while giving it a modern update. Taking place in China and, despite the name, utilizing Kung Fu the overall plot of the story is essentially the same as the original. For those who like myself grew up with the original this one will not live up to it. However the original does feel a little dated now and so this is a great way to share a film experience from your past with a new generation.

See it in the theatre if you have a child or if you have never seen the original. If this does not include you than it is not a must see in theatre or on DVD as the original will still do just fine.

Predators

Predators was enjoyable, but most of the cast didn't fit. I could never quite buy Adrian Brody as an action hero. The dialouge was somewhat cheesy and didn't always feel natural. Laurence Fishburne was one of the few actors who I feel was accurately cast, unfortunately he does not have much screen time.

The call back to the original predator was a nice touch and if you look closely you will see an alien skull.

Overall I would say this is a movie that if your a big fan of the Predator series than give it a watch, but if you can wait until it's released on DVD then do so and save yourself a few dollars as it is not a must see in the theatre.
